BETWEEN THE MUGELLO AND THE VAL DI SIEVE
As soon as you reach Dicomano you realise once that this is
a town that creates a special impression. It’s an instinctive
feeling, inspired by the first effect of the place with its
old town centre that almost hides itself at a first glance
and its main square, very wide, bright an filled with people
who seem they are not annoyed by the cars passing through the
streets around the square traveling to Florence, Casentino
and Romagna.
On the contrary, the citizens of Dicomano are used to live
in meeting and exchange place of different experiences and
traditions and for this reason they have developed a natural
gift for hospitality, friendliness and sociability.
Also the geographical configuration of the town appears to be the meeting point
of different landscapes.
From Dicomano one can choose to climb up to discover mountain
landscapes or to enjoy the gentle hilly and level scenery.
The town seems to be "protected" by
the Apennine range overlooking it from north, but it also stretches
out south to the wide valley, which becomes flatter and flatter
towards Rufina and Pontassieve.
To be a synthesis of different landscape impressions is therefore
the distinctive characteristic of the commune of Dicomano.
